The publication provides coverage of a broad range of legal issues and topics, which are relevant for doing business and investing in Russia/CIS and Eurasia as well. Our firm’s managing partner Dr. Irmantas Norkus and associate Olga Mažitova delivered an overview of real estate and construction regulation in Belarus. As of the end of February 2009 attorney Elijus Burgis is joining Raidla Lejins & Norcous and becomes a partner of the firm. Conferences and Seminars
Raidla Lejins & Norcous is proud to announce that the conference Bankruptcy Prevention and Restructuring held on 4 February 2009 was a great success and received warm appreciation from participants. It was attended by over 90 representatives of the largest Lithuanian companies. The event focused on bankruptcy prevention and management of businesses facing crisis, as well as on restructuring and financing possibilities. 

Conference presentations

Also on 4 February, our associated partner Audrius Kairevičius and senior lawyer Skirmantė Klumbytė delivered presentations at the seminar-forum Real Estate Value. Problems and Urgencies under Changing Market Conditions.
On 5 February, Raidla Lejins & Norcous’ managing partner dr. Irmantas Norkus participated in the Lithuanian Economy Conference and during the discussion on M&A issues delivered a presentation “M&A Market: What to Expect in the Future?”.

International Belarus Conference
Our associate lawyer Olga Mažitova delivered a presentation “Recent Developments in Real Estate Regulation in Belarus“ at the international conference “Investment in Belarus: Practical Aspects“, organized for local and foreign investors planning their business development in Belarus.

Conference on Bankruptcy Prevention and Restructuring
On 4 February 2009, Raidla Lejins & Norcous will host the conference Bankruptcy Prevention and Restructuring.

The conference is intended to call attention of representatives of the Lithuanian business sector to bankruptcy prevention measures and to restructuring and financial possibilities of businesses hit by crisis. At the conference expert lawyers will provide useful legal advice on the sale and acquisition of businesses facing financial difficulties. The participants of the conference will be afforded an opportunity to listen to the opinion of the receiver and bank officials and be shared the experience of business representatives on preserving business affected by crisis.

Acquisition of Viltechmeda
Raidla Lejins & Norcous acted as a legal counsel to Moog Inc., a US-based manufacturer of precision control systems for aircraft, automated industry machinery, medical and other equipment, in the acquisition of 100 percent of shares in Viltechmeda, a Lithuanian manufacturer of AITECS syringe infusion pumps, for EUR 15 million. Our responsibilities included due diligence, preparation and negotiation of transaction documents, signing and closing. The project was led by the managing partner Dr. Irmantas Norkus, with assistance of associate lawyer Juozas Rimas.

Sale of Gensina
Raidla Lejins & Norcous represented a private capital company Gensina in the sale of its controlling interest to Ruukki Lithuania, a subsidiary of Finnish company Rautaruukki. Gensina engages in production and supply of metal constructions to the Lithuanian market. Our lawyers were responsible for drafting of transaction documents and representation in negotiations. The project was headed by our managing associate Ruslanas Bronikovas.
