On 2 and 4 February, Raidla Lejins & Norcous Vilnius office, in cooperation with the main Lithuanian business daily Verslo žinios, held a seminar for company managers and heads of legal departments and in-house lawyers of companies entitled New Requirements of the Competition Council: What Business Must Know to Avoid Overstepping the Line.
The seminar was conducted by Elijus Burgis, Partner of Raidla Lejins & Norcous Vilnius office, Head of Corporate Transactions Practice Group and expert in EU and Lithuanian competition law. Elijus Burgis has long-standing experience in the field of competition law in representing companies before the Competition Council and the courts of the Republic of Lithuania, conducting competition legal due diligences, and evaluating corporate business solutions and arrangements from the point of view of competition law.
The seminar in which the expert in competition law presented the aspects of theory and practice of the Competition Law was intended for company managers and heads of legal departments and in-house lawyers of companies.
Considering that practical implementation of strict provisions of the Competition Law is difficult, and that the Competition Council is continuously introducing more stringent and new requirements, companies should be knowledgeable about the subtleties of this field in order to avoid overstepping the line. During the seminar, recent priority areas of the Competition Council and the ensuing implications for market participants, existing restrictions on the activities of competitors, and the leniency programme were presented to the participants of the seminar. Recommendations were provided on how day-to-day operations of the company should be organised and what preparations should be made for a potential visit of competition supervisors, as well as other important aspects of this field were covered.
In 2009, the international guide to lawyers PLC Which lawyer? recommended Elijus Burgis in the field of competition law. In 2010, in the 21st edition of the international financial law guide International Financial Law Review 1000 (IFLR1000) Elijus Burgis has been ranked as a leading transactional and finance law expert for the fifth consecutive year.
